Hello,
I have just upgraded to WordPress 3.5 and Gravity Forms 1.6.10.1. (before which I had no problems.)
I then tried to edit one of my forms. The left hand side of the page loaded briefly (less than 1 second) but then disappeared.
I then tried to edit another of my forms and everything was fine. It turns out it is just one of my forms behaving badly.
I have taken taken a back-up of my site and carried out the following steps to identify the cause.
1. Changed my theme to Twenty Eleven
2. Diabled all Plugins except GF related ones.
3. Disabled each of the subsidiary GF plugins in turn.
4. When I disabled GF Directory and Addons, the ‘bad’ form now worked fine.
5. Within the form, I started deleting fields and then reactivating the Plugin between each deletion.
6. It turns out that when I delete the ‘Approved’ field and reactivate the plugin, everthing then works.
7. It is also the case that only one of my forms uses the ‘Approved’ field.
8. Returning to my ‘live’ site, I removed the ‘Approved’ field from the form and everything worked fine.
Are you able to assist in a solution please?
Many thanks,
Peter.
December 14, 2012 at 12:28 pm #5209Peter, you officially rock for taking logical steps to identify the problem. I’ll get on it.
Thank you.
December 15, 2012 at 5:32 am #5210This is great, came here to make this post. I see it´s already taken care of. I can repeat the same steps. It´s on my forms with the approved option. Let me know if I can do anything to help. I can send the forms if need be.
December 15, 2012 at 11:24 am #5211Hello,
I also experienced the loss of access to my form editor, and now understand that it’s because I also have the latest versions of WP and GF and chose to use the ‘approved’ directory field.
The question is: Since I just created this somewhat complicated registration form and don’t have it as part of the backup that I did just yesterday, do I need to
1) delete the form and start over (remembering not to include the ‘approved’ field)
2) can I just wait for a solution and it will all be fine
Thanks again for your support, this looks like an awesome plug-in and I am looking forward to using it. Let me know if screenshots or anything will help you.
December 16, 2012 at 1:39 am #5212Hello ckershaw,
I think a solution to your (our) problem will be along in due course.
In the meantime, don’t delete your form and start over!
If you need access to your newly created form, simply deactivate the GF Directory and Addons plugin and you will be able to open the form without problem.
Peter.
January 4, 2013 at 9:14 am #5257Hello Zack,
Happy 2013.
Any news on the little problem that I posted before Christmas?
Best regards,
Peter.
January 8, 2013 at 5:43 pm #5266Actually, this is not just related to the Approved functionality. I have two forms that are NOT using this, and my users cannot go in and edit either form. They are seeing a list of their entries, but when they click the link to go to the Single Entry page, it is completely blank. Again, neither of these forms is using the Approved functionality.
BTW – My site has the latest upgrade to WP.
January 10, 2013 at 3:41 pm #5281I too, am needing help with solving this issue.
I have a field that I need to hide in the directory view, but I can only see the form field to edit it if the plugin is deactivated. And if the plugin is deactivated, I don’t have any Directory options to hide fields…
I have a membership form I’m working with, and currently, the directory is displaying the dues payment (“Product”) field, which I definitely don’t want in the public-facing directory.
I’ve also been posting about this in the WP plugin support forum…
Until the problem gets solved, is there any way to hide a field through a shortcode command?
January 20, 2013 at 12:36 pm #5284I too have the latest updates and version of WP. I installed this and see no form appearing in the editor. I tried shortcode [directory] and got nothing. From your posts it looks like this plugin has been abandoned by Zack for whatever reasons.
January 20, 2013 at 5:47 pm #5285OhSnap, I’ve been wondering too if Zack has abandoned the Directory plugin. He did respond at the beginning of this thread a month ago, but I’m not finding any response– either here or on the WP.com forum for the plugin.
Has anyone found any work arounds?
January 20, 2013 at 11:39 pm #5286It is a sad situation but I think that we were lucky to get the single response that we did back on Dec 14th last year.
Looking at the WP.com forum, it says that only 1 out of 17 threads have been resolved in the last 2 months so I guess its nothing personal!
It’s a shame but I guess that we’re going to have to do without the ‘approved’ field.
January 28, 2013 at 11:03 am #5293Ok. I finally resorted to an old-fashioned phone call to Zack. He says he is swamped with other projects, but does intend to eventually get back to updates for the Directory plugin– eventually. It did not sound like this would be happening for a number of months….
I’m thinking of hiring a coder to work on just my issue– or even just a custom solution for my situation…..
February 2, 2013 at 8:33 pm #5299Zack, I don’t know this will help you when you finally get around to editing the plug-in to fix this issue, but maybe it will help some folks who are having problems in the meantime.
I discovered that if I have the Directory plug-in activated BEFORE I start the Gravity Form that I want to use to build the directory, this issue does not occur.
I’m still looking for a fix, because I’m not able to go back and re-create the long and complicated GF for my clients directory, but I did re-create another simpler form, and it does seem to work.
Key: activate GF Directory plug-in before you start your directory form.
February 7, 2013 at 6:04 pm #5316Zack, Cole Geissinger found the error in the code causing the problem & posted it on the WP.org forum:http://wordpress.org/support/topic/form-editor-returns-blank-when-adding-approved-option?replies=10#post-3829374
Any chance you could update with this fix soon?
February 13, 2013 at 1:26 pm #5328Oh dear,
This is happening to me too! I came here to see if I could find something to try and the OP described my symptoms exactly.
I have been through all the deleting forms, deleting shortcodes, enabling and disabling plugins and everything else except trying a different theme.
I’m new to GF and this plugin but it’s the nearest I have got to a directory site that I want (I think), so I am still in the early stages. I do hope this can be resolved because I have been going round and round with it for ages now.
Thanks
Martin
