Denver’s Top-Ranked SEO is now your Denver real estate advocate

If I were a Denver real estate webmaster, I’d be concerned.

So when Knox does Denver real estate for buyers, you can rest assured that he will be your strongest ally in the Denver housing market.

As an Exclusive Buyer Broker/Agent, Knox is representing only home buyers, and is interested only in showing houses that meet the buyers’ needs, not houses that would bring double commission. Learn more about the benefits of using a buyers’ agent instead of a Realtor.

Denver businesses were counting on a boost. Except for downtown, there wasn't one.

Denver businesses were counting on a boost. Except for downtown, there wasn't one.

Convention’s tourism bump slight

For a few tourist attractions inside Denver, the convention actually hurt business….Not knowing what to expect, some restaurants stocked up on food, extended hours or added staff, only to be disappointed….

DNC spending bonanza stays downtown

The DNC spending spree apparently didn’t ripple far beyond downtown retailers and restaurants.

Businesses in Cherry Creek and the Denver Tech Center reported that they didn’t get any boost from the estimated 50,000 delegates, media and onlookers in town this week. In fact, they saw a marked drop in business.
Rocky Mountain News – 1

Hundreds of store owners across Denver are shaking/banging/rubbing their heads either trying to figure out what went wrong or knowing exactly what they would do next time.

As unfortunate as it may be, businesses cannot rely on local traffic alone, even when 50,000 fresh consumers enter the fray. I wonder: what could businesses have done to improve their numbers during the DNC?

New Choices Plus

I was pleasantly surprised to find out that one of my first clients in Lakewood, Colorado is now ranked top 5 for their primary keyword/key phrases:

SEO results for New Choices Plus

At the time of writing this article, here is their ranking in Google:

  • Denver lavage: 3
  • Denver colon hydrotherapy: 1
  • Denver colon cleanse: 4
  • Denver colon: 3

It’s pretty cool that even before I was “doing SEO” that KWD websites perform well in search.  It got me to thinking of some pretty fun domain names! :-)

The Burning Question
I just finished meeting with a client who told me that she had met with multiple other designers, and that I was the only one who provided any ideas for marketing her website. It’s pretty unbelievable.

She has a new product that is not yet launched — very under wraps — and wants to spread the word once the product goes live. Other web designers only discussed her website. I talked about a web presence.

Warning: SEO companies charge too much and take too long

April 18, 2008

A man called yesterday wanting to have his Denver IT Services website optimized.  He had called multiple search engine optimization specialists in Denver, and each one had given him the same proposal: spend thousands of dollars per month, and take a long time.

Check out what the SEO companies said

He had been told the following by multiple companies:

In order to get your website ranked well, it will take 6 months to a year, and will cost $1,000.00 per month.

- Random Denver SEO companies

That means he will have paid $6,000 to $12,000 to have his site ranked well in search engines. I was taken aback; spending that much money each month on SEO is ridiculous for many reasons, but here are a few:

Landing page design — Activating emotions generates leads

March 13, 2008

Picture of Do not enter, one way traffic - re: landing pages and funneling users

Adding value to your landing page

Landing page design is focused on having a user perform an action. Every piece of content should revolve around why and how a user should perform that action. Landing pages don’t need to be dull or static, however. I’m going to talk about a simple way I spruced up a career-oriented landing page: a salary calculator.

At CareersWithDish.com, we wanted to entice sales professionals to apply for a job with Dish Network. We featured the standard landing page content, including:

  • 8 compelling reasons to work for Dish
  • Text and images that reinforce the upward income mobility

How to publicize your business events online

February 20, 2008

Business people in front of a building

I wrote a newsletter article previously called "How to Schedule an Event Online," but recently I’ve had a few clients ask me how to get their events noticed. I’ve republished the article below:

Here’s the situation: consider that you have a business event coming up, and you want to organize everything online. You have a list of people you want to let know about it, and you want to set up a system for tracking responses. In addition, you want to publicize the event the best you can. Here’s how to do it all:

Are you looking for a great place to meet clients?

February 19, 2008

Mac Pro

As many small-business owners do, I work from home. It’s great: I get to be with my rascal of a cat, I check the mail mid-day, and I have the comforts of home. It’s not, however, a good place to meet my clients.Instead of wildly cleaning the house in preparation for meetings, I meet at coffee shops for initial interviews.

Today, I’m meeting with a client in order to finalize designs, and I need to bring my desktop computer (Mac Pro). A coffee shop is not always appropriate

Denver Democratic Convention Vendor List & Link Exchange

February 18, 2008

Denver 2008 Democratic Convention

The Democrats are doing something no one has ever done before. It’s revolutionary. It’s amazing. It’s a cost-saving measure. For the first time in the convention’s history, there will be no printed vendor list. Instead, it’s all being featured online.

Are you a business in Denver that wants additional exposure? If so, you too can be in the Vendor Directory. It’s as simple as filling out the application.

But don’t stop there! Now that you’ve started building your site’s link network, give you site a shot in the arm with the steps below:
