Improve Interspire Shopping Cart Search with Smart Redirections
Good search results are magical
I am always impressed when a website’s search goes where I want and finds what I expect it to. When trying to find a specific product by SKU in Interspire, you will be presented with a search result that shows the product you’re looking for first. But this is not good enough, as it adds an extra click in the process.
If your users are specific enough to type in an exact product name, brand name, product SKU or product ID, you better get them to the product they want, right away — they’re likely to buy! I don’t want to show them a search results page, I want them to see the product or brand page itself.
How Not to Optimize Your Search Results Page Title – Priceline.com Should Know Better

A comparison in travel sites search results page titles
Wow, Priceline…who did you hire for SEO?
I was shopping around for a good price on a hotel in Aspen when William Shatner’s “Falcoln of Truth” showed me how not to write page titles.
Check out Priceline‘s horrific search results page title:
Priceline.com - hotel, hotel reservation, cheap hotel, las vegas hotel, boston hotel, hotel deal, new york city hotel, hotel rooms, motel, lodging, accommodations, casino hotel, priceline
That is a terrible example of keyword stuffing, and is…well…awful. Even search results pages should be optimized. Priceline should know that!

Domain Buying for Denver SEO

Gettin’ Me Some Domains for Search Engine Optimization
Since Katz Web Design is going to be more active in Denver search engine optimization, I finally registered some domain names that I’ve been eyeing. Since domains are important for S.E.O. and KWD doesn’t have any SEO domain names, it was a ripe time to buy.
Bought
- denverseocompany (.com and .net)
- denverseo (.info)
- seodenver (.biz and .info)
Want to sell
There are also a few domains I’d like to sell, since I didn’t end up using them; I was the president of a chapter of Colorado Business Leads for a while, and I had planned to make a member directory website as an added benefit, but (no surprise) I was too busy.

Is Blogging Really Worth the Time?
![One reason to blog is traffic! [Image of traffic light]](http://www.seodenver.com//home/katzwebd/seodenver.com/wp-content/uploads/HLIC/b474026953c38cf6eb9af33980de820d.jpg)
Today, a business associate asked me “I know about blogging, and it seems like a waste of time. Why is blogging worth the time?” I was able to reply with some very convincing arguments — and in a way, I reminded myself about the value of blogging.
- Blogging establishes you as an expert in your field
- Search engine traffic dramatically increases
- Blogging is basically free marketing for your business: the only cost is your time.
- Blogging forces you to write about your life and your business

Optimizing a website for search: Google vs. Yahoo! and MSN

When I think SEO, I think of Google. Why? Is it because Google’s PageRank system determines better websites? Is it because Google’s advertising options are superior? It’s as simple as this: Google gets better results than any other search engine.
The major search engines often don’t agree
Optimizing websites for search is frustrating sometimes. The biggest search engines are Google, Yahoo!, and MSN. The frustrating part of optimization is the variation between the search engines. The variations in ranking can be huge. I will use Katz Web Design’s ranking information to show some examples:

Denver SEO: Achieving Goals – a slow trek toward good search engine ranking

I am a Denver web designer, and lots of what I do is advise my clients on how to improve their ranking. I do what I can to optimize the code using tried and true SEO techniques. But in the end, it comes down to this: are you willing to work for search engine placement?
2 months later, a look at the results
On January 24 of this year, I set a goal to improve Katz Web Design’s ranking in Google, especially for the terms “Denver Web Design,” and “Denver Web Designers.” I had my blog for 2 days at the time. Let’s take a look at the numbers:
